Review of 56 Up (2012) by Craig Dylan W — 28 Feb 2013
This film is exactly what it purports to be, but somehow seems to fall short of what it wants to be. We see snippets of the lives of several people taken every seven years, but not enough to learn much about any of them.
As an experimental film (or ongoing series of films), it is interesting, but there is no epiphany asked for or offered, no revelation, no larger question answered. One is left asking, "So what?" Still, it is worthwhile, and similar efforts by other film makers in the future may learn from this one.
It does seem a bit long, though...
