Review of 49 Up (2006) by Andy M — 21 Apr 2008
The "Up Series" has to go down as one of the most unique documentaries ever created. At a time where Britain's culture was rapidly changing in a post World War II era, the "Up Series" began with "Seven Up", where a group of children told the world their dreams and aspirations for the future.
Over 49 years later, this dedicated series has continued to return every seven years to update the world on the lives of these individuals. It provides an absolutely captivating look at the highs and lows of humanity and gives us a glimpse of how a few years can completely change an individual.
It's inspirational material, and in the words of Roger Ebert, a "noble use of the film medium".
