Review of 1969 (1988) by Michael J — 19 Dec 2007
This movie takes you through the lives of a small town in U.S.A. that is seeing some of their children going off to war. While this enlistment/draft is occurring some of the youth question participation in this war.
We have decently defined characters (although they could have been developed better) and believable conflicts between generations and what they feel the youth owe to their country.
I believe what made this movie worth watching is seeing some well known actors (Keifer Sutherland, Robert Downey Jr., and Winona Ryder) when they were very young. However, their youthful energy is not transferred into the characters. The result is a decent story that moves slowly.
Would I recommend this movie? Depends! If you wish to see a movie and get a little insight into the conflict of sending your children to war and how it affects America â?? then see it. If you wish to be inspired â?? then donâ??t.
