Review of 100 Yen Love (2014) by Todd B — 03 Nov 2018
I read a few positive reviews of this film before sitting down for 2 hours to take it in. I wasn't convinced by Sakura Ando's pretend acting to be so weak at the beginning of the film. Then in the boxing scene at the film's close, after watching all the hard spent training to hone her into a strong focused athlete she gets into the ring and suddenly forgets all her training and gets pummeled.
Even for a Japanese drama film this all just appeared too nonsensical. In the love hotel scene she suddenly can move a muscle, but a few scenes before she physically attacks her sister without reserve.
The glaring inconsistencies were a turn off.
