Review of Zatoichi Meets Yojimbo (1970) by Jason D — 29 Jan 2009
Greed overpowering men. It works in any Western (speghetti, from Peckinpah, Treasure of the Sierra Madre) and it works well here. I love Mifune's reprising his bodyguard role, although it was weaken with some derivative and mostly cheesy romance.
You never see the Man With No Name fall in love with someone, nor would you care too. But the finale was great. There's nothing better than some dying men pawing over a mound of gold sand that's blowing off into the wind.
Wicked awesome.
