Review of Woyzeck (1979) by Glenn B — 19 Jun 2008
If you have ever doubted the genius or the madness of Klaus Kinski, watch this film: he is possessed from the early credit sequence to the absolutely unforgettable close. Some of the greatest and most daring acting ever.
It's interesting that another reviewer cited the slow-motion murder as a moment that kicked her out of the film ... because for me this was the absolute pitch point of the whole experience, and Herzog's most daring moment here.
I have also always liked the harsh, scraping chamber music.
