Review of Wonderful Nightmare (2015) by Steve W — 18 Aug 2015
Wonderful Nightmare is an excellent blend of fantasy and comedy, very similar to Big (1988) or Miss Granny (2014). Its about a cold hearted lawyer named Yeon-Woo, who gets killed in a car accident. While in an afterlife relay station, we find out a paperwork glitch caused her to die early and a housewife to come back to life for a month. In order to get back her life and body, Yeon-Woo must live out a demure hard working houswife's life for an entire month.
The movie starts slow, and develops the family alongside Yeon-Woo as she tries to fit in without her fancy clothes or food. The movie is less of a comedy and more of a drama, and it really has some tender moments that really make you root for the characters.
Overall its a very well written comedy drama that focuses on character development over story. It has a bittersweet ending, but the acting and plot twists definitely make this a solid film.
