Really gripping story of a NYC high school senior, Smith, who's a basketball star and the travails he faces at school and home. Shannon gives a great performance as the boy's troubled dad with a serious gambling problem.
A little uneven, some what melodramatic and then just totally over the top at the end, yet it all comes together. All round great cast with real NYC settings that give a realistic, nail biting feel to the movie.
