Review of Willow Creek (2013) by James L — 04 Jun 2014
B+.
Found Footage is actually one of my favorite sub genres in horror. I love the way they put you in our protagonists problems first hand, which is what makes Willow Creek effectively creepy. The actors do a fine job at portraying a couple seeking out Bigfoot, then when they finally do find it (or it finds them) they become paranoid and scared and so does its audience. The film starts out with you getting to know the two main characters, and really nothing happens until 3/4ths of the film is done with, which I am totally fine with considering the characters were not annoying and you really get to know them. The film doesn't show you really nothing at all, its what it doesn't show you that scares you though. Overall the film kicks it into gear the last half hour and keeps up the tension the entire time. A very good thriller worth renting if you like Found Footage.
