Review of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (2016) by Jean S — 19 Aug 2017
Never in the history of soundtracks in movies has there ever been such a well placed juxtaposition of song and story as in the climax of this movie. Oh, Harry Nillson! What they've done to you! I liked this movie, uh oh, does it show? Where has it been? Nobody TOLD me, as usual.
Lorne Michaels is one of the producers, does that tell you anything you need to know? Billy Bob Thornton as a, well, why should I spoil it, but he's simply perfect for it, okay? And, as for the Harry Nillson song.
..all I can say is, wait for it. You'll laugh, you'll cry. The tempo of this movie, the when and where of the action, is brilliant, including the rather late placement of the scene I'm alluding to with the perfect, ironic Nillson song.
See this one.
