Review of Waterloo (1970) by Tom H — 10 Sep 2009
Way better film than I expected it to be. I was a little disappointed in how Orson Welles screen time was under like 5 minutes or so. especially since I got this film in a Orson Welles collection set. but in fact this was a great war movie with epic battle scenes and wonderful acting.
I have to commend Rod Steiger for his participation in this film. his role as Napoleon was exceptional, his speeches were powerful and convincing as well as believable. Sergei Bondarchuk is a director I personally haven't heard of, but he sure knows how to shoot a story.
although the filming and angles are not impressive, the scenes in the battle grounds are. if you have not seen this film be sure to do so. add an Epic film to your collection.
