Review of Waterboys (2001) by Tony P — 12 Jun 2007
When five high school boys are persuaded by their attractive female swin coach to start a male synchronized swimming team, you get cornball comedy at its best! There is not one intelligent comment in the entire movie, but this is not by any means "stupid.
" It's a fun summertime movie great for chillaxing. It's mildly inspiring and charmingly quirky. Plus, the main character's girlfriend is REALLY cool and cute -- she met him when a soda machine ate his money and randomly launched a flying sidekick from offscreen into the machine, forcing the can to drop and handed it to him.
Cute karate girls are always a plus, but that's in ADDITION to dolphins, a flaming afro, DDR, and karate at the poolside. The TV drama is even better.
