Review of Wasted on the Young (2010) by David B — 26 May 2013
A morality tale in re to the morality of choices that people make in re to a young & naïve girl being gang raped at a party by some rich - preppy boys. Even though the film is poorly edited & the flashback scenes are hard to follow this is still worth seeing.
It's a mid-tier level teen drama with a deeper meaning about morality & personal responsibility. The film also depicts very well the detachment that many young people have in re to violence in society & how self centered many teens are.
The plot could have taken place in the US. This is not a great film but serves its purpose. I still have some issues with the ending being left open to interpretation but it is what it is. There were aspects of the plot that reminded me a lot of some films from the 90's such as Cruel Intentions (1999), & School Ties.
There were other aspects that reminded me a lot of Irreversible & its edgy material & also the In Crowd (2000).
