Review of Waltz with Bashir (2008) by Gustavo A — 01 Sep 2009
So good. Soo soo soo good. The style, the story, the incredible tension. All of it came together in a ridiculous blend. It is so good. I highly recommend this film for almost anybody(aside from sensitive people and children).
This sad, war epic is focused on the aftermath and the havoc war can cause on your memories. It shows the effects that scarring images have on the human psyche and the painful thing about everything you see and hear in this film is , it's all true.
The people talking were actually interviewed. They actually had those conversations. All of it, the graphic images (in their artful combinations), the intense plot, and the surreality of it all makes you think you're watching a story that's made up.
Then when your senses are down you are bombarded with the shocking footage that is the ending. Be careful watching it. It'll make you think three times before it's over.
