Review of Virunga (2014) by Michel J — 24 Mar 2016
This is Must film ! If you have not seen it ... It is dear to me as this is where I grew up. I remember having 2 baby Gorillas at home, I stayed often at the hotel at la Rwindi, In the Virunga, I slept in its bungalows, swam in its pool and had the elephant "poubelle" pass it's trunk through the window of the restaurant to get a banana and other fruits I felt the Hippo at night rubbing their bodies along the popcorn paint of the outside of buildings, heard the lion roars as they walked through the hotel complex. .I watched the Nyiragongo Lava eruption from the red dirt roads of the Park, I drove up the escarpment to Lubero and Beni, The high plateaus right on the equator, allowed for same days witht he same season all right round, sunrise 6 AM, sunset 6PM the temperature 702 F. every day ! the eternal spring, we believed that the whole area around plateau around the park could feed the whole of africa.. if only ... can it be saved ??
Third white generation born in the Kivu, It was home,.
