Review of Venus (2006) by Ricardo V — 10 Mar 2008
One of the best, if not THE best film i've seen this summer thus far. it could have been so easy to make this into some kind of Lolita, creepy old man making out with young girl film, but it's more than that.
it's given respect, we're repulsed by the idea of peter o'toole and leslie phillips but we never see any of it. their relationship is real, she loves the attention (not in an erotic way but just in a person loving her way), and peter o'toole is fascinated by her because she represents his past affairs, his aging body yearns for the touch and presence of a beautiful woman.
it's a hellava good film.
