Review of Urbania (2000) by Satchel H — 12 May 2014
It is a fascinating story, there is no doubt about it, but I doubt the relevence off the subject matter when looking at society today. Its message would be something seen in the 60's 70's and 80's, but as time has progressed the plight of the homosexual has been lessened.
Tolerance is more prevelent these days then it has ever been before (at least in America, though I am aware of how certain cultures view homosexuality). Also a criticism I have, because I'm a movie ass hole, is that the acting at times goes from fantastic to sub parr.
That being said I love the film for what it is, a wonderful tale that delves into intense detail, the trials of a young man who has lost his lover and seeks retribution. I will always recomend it to anyone, and it will always be one of my favorites.
