Review of Under The Greenwood Tree (2005) by Elisa J — 02 Dec 2008
This is a wondrous little truffle, perfect for a winter's night (or a night in any season, for that matter)! The story is astoundingly cheerful for Thomas Hardy (especially the humorous choir vs. clergy plotline), James Murray is a countrified dreamboat, Ben Miles is a vicar - and there is a happy handful of unexpected snogs at unacceptable moments in unseemly locales.
The whole thing is a delight: a pocket period miniseries at a mere 90-some minutes! Who needs a mainstream chick flick?
