Review of Twin Falls Idaho (1999) by Randy B — 03 Nov 2007
Although it is a variation of the seen-it-a-million-times-love-triangle, TWIN FALLS IDAHO is not at all run of the mill. To begin with, the Polish Brothers (in their script, direction, and performances) avoid any and all circus-side-show titillation in its treatment of the conjoined twins.
The twins are brilliantly, uniquely two well-developed characters; their conjoined relationship is simply the film's interesting backdrop. But the film, too, is very beautifully shot. Michael Polish knows how to use imagery and lighting to craft an creepily intimate tone.
