Review of Turtles Forever (2009) by Sean S — 17 Apr 2010

Now, THIS is what I'm talking about! Good stuff! Unlike the boring, bland, and pretty-much-soulless theatrical CGI TMNT movie from 2007, this hand-animated Ninja Turtles event is 4Kids half-shell swan song as the license now switches over to Nickelodeon.

And, the result, is a classic movie that just about does everything right. This movie is an awesome crossover event that combines the 2003 Ninja Turtles (the more serious ones from the modern animated series) with the 1987 Ninja Turtles (from the classic action-comedy animated series of old).

There's a great plot, hilarious comedy, awesome animation, great continuity nods, and the movie never drags. And, a hilarious running fourth-wall-breaking gag had me practically rolling on the floor every time! Heck, most theatrical live-action action/adventure movies wish they were this good! I certainly hope for a DVD release in the future.
