Review of Trouble the Water (2008) by Robynlea F — 01 Jan 2010
Watch this film! Even if you think Katrina has ended, you should still see this and know what people experienced who lived it. It follows a woman, her family and friends through the storm, providing amazing and real insight into their experience. The woman in the documentary took her own footage leading up to the storm and while she was in the attic for hours with neighbors, after the levee broke. The film shows how amazing the human spirit is, even in deplorable conditions. Our government should have done more for the victims of Katrina.
Katrina is more than a storm in New Orleans - it's how the leaders and elite treat people in this country, it's about the conflict of disillusionment with reality and more importantly, its about something bigger than us all - the power of community and how a tragedy can be a catalyst for positive change.
