Review of Trishna (2011) by Dave C — 26 May 2012
Michael WInterbottom's setting of Tess Of The D'Urbervilles in India is not a total success. It is too long and too many scenes cut to scenic shots of countryside or cities at night, there are too many tourist shots of buses and crowds almost randomly and certainly meaninglessly and the change of heart in her lover is without motivation.
But it does have a lovely soundtrack and makes a good lightweight film as long as you don't ask too many questions.
