Review of Trishna (2011) by Jon C — 10 Oct 2012
A breathtaking performance from Freida Pinto.
The male lead at the beginning seems like he's going to be the main focus, but the film is called 'Trishna' for a reason.
Other than the male love interest running his hotel and pursuing the woman he loves Pinto's character fights to find her place in the country of India, going through the motions, remaining close to her father and the rest of her family and falling in love in the process.
It's a love story we are all familiar with: the first encounter, the connecting, the bonding, and near the end the dramatic end.
These characters jump from being ordinary to close to rich to poor to love and deterioration.
The characters are strong, the scenery is amazing, and the subtley of the flaring emotions is invigorating.
