I think the cast of Tortilla Flat has been misjudged. These are A-list actors of their day. Actors act. This movie is a departure for the films the audience was used to seeing their favorite actors in.
A real actor wants to challenge himself. This film does just that. I found the film fascinating. It's really theater.
