Review of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011) by Nicholas L — 10 Dec 2013
If the James Bond series is the "Godfather" of the espionage drama-film (glorified, epic, and sweeping) then "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" is the "Goodfellas" (gritty, dark and realistic).
There's no Q-branch of crazy gadgetry here...just a classic "whodunit?" with countless twists and turns. Director Tomas Alfredson paints the life of a spy as one that is dark, dreary, and filled with uncertainty.
A great film with a stellar performance by Gary Oldman.
