Review of Timbuktu (2014) by Dan H — 02 Jul 2015
The visual style of the film is simple and elegant. The relationships of the characters both strong and subtle. As the viewer, I found myself quietly enraged that this still occurs throughout the world.
Unlike some social films, it did not have a call to action from the worldwide population. Perhaps it does not need one. But I can't help feeling that I wish I knew some way to stop this sort of tyranny and horror from continuing (in an organic and empathetic fashion).
The plot was a bit unemotional and slow, maybe intentionally.
