Despite the misleading title, this is actually one tale of Thor's youth. I don't know whether the story has any roots in actual Norse myth, but the plot seems to borrow rather heavily from Lord of the Rings.
The animation is OK, but not as strong as most modern DC & Marvel adaptaions. It's worth a watch, especially if you're a comic fan, but I wouldn't say this one is a must see.
