Second on the list of DiCaprio's best performances (after Gilbert Grape). DeNiro really nailed the evil stepfather part, and managed to not make him totally one-dimensional. He gave him some depth so that a small part of the audience would feel sorry for him.
De Niro and DiCaprio have fantastic chemistry in this.
