Review of This Boy's Life (1993) by Kyle W — 17 Sep 2007
Probably one of the most underrated films of our time. robert de niro and leonardo dicaprio deliver a killer duo and some of the best acting in years. dicaprio, at 19, proves how good an actor he is in this powerful role as an adolescent teen moving from town to town until he settles in concrete, washington.
his mother (ellen barkin) meets a new love (de niro) who turns out to be a controlling, abusive man who is out to ruin toby's (dicaprio) life. to watch and feel dicaprios role at his age is so moving.
how he overcomes life as a nervous scared boy into a strong, courageous, mature man. a must see for everyone. gipped at the oscars, highly underrated, not too many people have heard of this film.
