Review of The Weather Man (2005) by Valerie I — 30 Nov 2008
Ah, one of my favorite movies of all time. But highly strange, pitch black comedy won't appeal to everyone. Nicolas Cage in one of the few better roles he's played in the past 10 years is an empty on the inside weatherman with a successful career but shitty home life.
Director Verbinski proves that he still has the talent to understand the material without being eclipsed by the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Movie evokes Hal Ashby-like atmosphere with great performances by Cage and Caine as his deadpan, dying writer father.
