Review of The Weather Man (2005) by Liam C — 31 Mar 2013
The Weather Man was a quite offbeat and quite frankly odd film. It stars Nicolas Cage, so that makes sense. It was a dark film and I really loved it for that. It was met with a lukewarm response because it couldn't appeal to everyone, it was a film made for certain people.
It was a dark, more intelligent film and the film Cage should be doing more often. With a rather odd director at the helm it does seem like a weird choice for an already weird film. It isn't a clear narrative as we just see David on a normal day and it ends the same way. It was a film that wasn't afraid to tell its story. I found some of the subplots forgettable as when they were introduced again I had forgotten they even happened. With fine acting and with jet black comedy, this film is only for a certain few.
