Review of The Ward (2010) by Nate J — 01 Jun 2011
Man I was really hoping to be blown away by this flick as I have been with so many of John Carpenter's movies but sadly I wasn't. His 9 year adscence does come across in the flick as it has the feel of more of a direct to dvd movie directed by some no name director trying to make an impact.
I didn't hate the film, I actually kind of enjoyed it, but compared to Carpenter's body of work, it just doesn't live up to the potential it had. Worth a watch but don't expect much. It has some pretty decent performances by all and a halfway decent storyline but it just doesn't really deliver in the scare department.
I really hope Carpenter keeps moving forward in his carreer and though I don't see this flick being very well received, I hope it doesn't break his confidence in what he is capable of doing, he is still the master of horror as far as I'm concerned.
