Review of The Violent Professionals (1973) by Mike P — 10 Jul 2010
Violent Professionals starts like gang buster with two cons breaking free of an armored train they are being transported in. After shooting a father and his young daughter the men are surrounded by the police were they surrender only to be shot by a 'fuck the books' cop. With an opening like this I had high hopes for this film. I mean ten minutes in and the sleaze is already being pour on thick. But unfortunatly the complicated script meanders too much in half baked ideas that never do come to light.
Thats not to say this is a bad film. Its full of tight car chases, shoot'em up bank robberies and finely filmed fight sequences from director Sergio Martino. Martino has always been reliable with Giallos and my first exerience here with his Poliziotteschi isnt that much of a disappointment. But like I said the screenplay for this could of been alot tighter.
