This is not the actual story of the legendary racehorse Seabiscuit. Imagine a parallel universe where the horses and the races were real but the human characters surrounding them were fictional but the characters were so likeable that you wish this was the true story of Seabiscuit and that's what you have with this stunningly beautiful Technicolor masterpiece.

Seabiscuit is actually a background character in this film. It centers around a wise elderly Irish horsetrainer Fitzgerald who sees the early potential in the seemingly broken down horse, his gorgeous niece Margaret played by a now grown child star Shirley Temple whom due to losing her brother to the sport doesn't share his interest, and a hope filled jockey Knowles played by a too big Lon McCallister who wants nothing more than to ride Seabiscuit into the history books and woo the cynical Margaret into becoming Mrs.

Ted Knowles.
