Review of The Stone Roses: Made of Stone (2013) by Dan B — 07 Jul 2017
As fun as it is to watch The Stone Roses rehearse and gig, this is a huge disappointment, especially when compared to a similar recent documentary like Oasis: Supersonic. It all feels a bit disjointed and lazy.
It's not a full biopic and not really a snapshot of a particular period either. There's no particular narrative angle and ultimately here's nothing really to be learnt from it. Shane Meadows is a great filmmaker but documentaries clearly aren't his forte.
