Review of The Spectacular Now (2013) by Jon C — 14 Jan 2014
A beautiful and thoughtful film which weighs heavy emotionally, but is still funny enough and likable enough to keep from being a downer. I'm reminded in many ways of Perks of Being a Wallflower, in that it tells a coming of age tale about a young man with real problems.
The characters are enormously developed, and kept enthralling by impeccable performances from all parties. That no one is talking about this movie is a crime.
