Review of The Sasquatch Gang (2006) by Ian B — 14 Apr 2008
A very funny, weird, low budget comedy...and proof positive that Justin Long is one of the funniest motherfuckers on the planet! (especially when he's playing rednecks). The Sasquatch Gang is slightly dragged down because it's made by some of the people who brought us Napoleon Dynamite.
..so there are obvious similarities. Some of the characters and their funny voices are lifted from the Napoleon universe, but Sasquatch has an actual story and the characters are just as likable and funny.
But like I said, Justin Long owns this movie. Every time he was on screen I was nearly pissing myself. The scene where he robs a video store is priceless! The rest of the cast is really enjoyable and the movie is actually quite charming.
I also liked how it was told in a non-linear fashion. It kept the film moving along at a nice pace. Definitely worth seeing for fans of quirky, weird comedies like Napoleon, Nacho Libre and Hot Rod.
