Review of The Resident (2011) by The D — 07 Feb 2011
This made me feel really uncomfortable & I know it was supposed to but still it was skin creeping.
Recently separated Doctor Juliette(Swank) moves into a new apartment & befriends landlord Max(Morgan). The relationship takes a turn but Juliette still feels for her ex who she recently let back into her life & puts a stop to it.
At this point the movie literally rewinds to the begining & a whole chapter is inserted into the movie.
From then on in Max stalks Juliette from the walls of her apartment & the violations become even more sinister. Inexplicably sleeping through alarms Juliette believes it to be something in the apartment & sets up cameras to investigate.
The end is not unpredictable but Morgan is strikingly creepy with Swank playing a reasonable victim. Christopher Lee's role is merely a cameo & completely irrelevant to the plot.
It really is quite horribly creepy & in that respect very well done just not my first choice of chiller/horror.
