Review of The Place Promised in Our Early Days (2004) by Troy H — 02 Jul 2007
The colors are all vibrant and alive; even the most bleak of settings has a certain nuance to it that makes it look amazing. The detail of the surroundings and settings, the reflections of light, the characters expressions are all wonderfully done.
The sound effects of creaking boards, the roaring of plane engines, and everything else is detailed and realistic. The score is gentle and emotionally moving. The plot has a large emotional force to it; the feelings the characters share and the needs that drive them are wonderfully conveyed through their actions and told vividly through the dialogue.
And in addition to the character driven-side of the plot, there is another half containing a strikingly original sci-fi aspect that adds an epic side to the story. These two halves are wonderfully intertwined into a stunning amalgamation.
