Review of The Pit, the Pendulum and Hope (1983) by Edgar C — 15 Jan 2011
In the surreal and dark department, there are, up to now, few names more talented than the expressionistic hommages of Burton and the demented mind of Gilliam. Svankmajer and Poe are a perfect match made in... the afterlife! All memories that come to my head are those of perfect dispair, of darkness, faces, shadows and symbols, an unheard voice screaming to escape the claws of inevitability and nothingness. When I watch this, I drop tears of amazement.
100/100.
