Review of The Petrified Forest (1973) by Sv G — 28 Apr 2011
***1/2 (out of four).
Early Bette Davis and Humphrey Bogart drama based on the Broadway play by Robert Sherwood.
Set at a lost and lonely diner in the middle of the desert. Davis plays a waitress who meets a traveler (Leslie Howard). She falls for his charms and sees a way out of her sad world. But the diner is overtaken by a group of criminals led by Humphrey Bogart.
The dialogue is smart and the performances are memorable and sharp.
