Review of The Outsider (2018) by Sky S — 30 Jun 2018
Absolutely loved this film and guess the those that hate it have too simple of taste (it is a Netflix film sono matter what, everything affiliated with the 'traditional' method will hate anything Netflix).
It does have the usual pitfall of a Westerner rising in the ranks of a xenophobic and extremely strict japanese culture and the Yakuza in real life are no exemption. The film also made this apart of what drove the story and made it something the Shikoromatsu wanted to take advatange of.
However, I was totally engrossed throughout the entire film and couldnt take my eyes away from the drama and 'unspoken' suspense. Some parts were predictable and saw coming from a mile away but I was still more than impressed by Jared Lhetto and his costar (actors name escapes me but he was CPT. Nagata in the film Battleship).
This is definitely a film for any 'Grim Dark' lover.
