A gentle surprise! It has overtones of French films that do this married lover dilemma with such simple depth. It is let down by an uneven pace at times and a failure to really nail her family into the crisis until later in the film.

Jack Scalia makes a credible lover most of the time but, like Lindsay Wagner, doesn't maintain his hurt. But when they are hot, it sizzles with great acting. The plot is not too crowded which gives a simple palette for the romance to unfold.

A very young Shannen Doherty jumps of the screen. The real weakness is the failure to keep the tension rising and rising as in French cinema tradition. It's like the director let go of the reins. But it still is a very watchable film.

Viewing in 2018, one should be aware of the starring role shoulder pads play along with a good support from the frizzy permed fringe, and the fabulous layered Farah Fawcett silver tipped shag!
