Review of The New World (2005) by Izzat A — 18 Jan 2010
#18 of the Decade: The NEW WORLD.
Typical Terrence Malick fare. Thankfully, that means unbelievable visuals and stunning cinematography. A master director that can say anything he wants without a word of dialogue. A unique and brilliant take on the John Smith and Pocahantas story (although they are not refered to by name in the film). Collin Farrell proves that he can act (now if only he could improve his ratio of good films to terrible ones). The beautiful Q'Orianka Kilcher is incredible as she steals the movie (why has she not been in more films?).
