Review of The New Daughter (2009) by Thomas D — 24 Jun 2010
The New Daughter was an interesting movie. It did have its level of cheese, but I picked it up out of the Redbox because not only was it a new, different looking horror movie, but it also starred Kevin Costner! Now thats something you dont see everyday.
So I watched it, and it wasn't so bad. The worst part was probably the plot which tended to deliver a little less than I had hoped for. Costner was great as a single dad of two kids that move into a house in a small town that has many kept secrets.
A lot of strange things begin to happen and Kevin Costners daughter begins to change. Quite a few eerie moments. I would like to give it 3 even stars for original ideas and decent acting, as well as mild suspense and a mediocre creep-factor.
Check out Kevin Costner in a horror movie, its a pretty different experience! 3-starz.
