Review of The Mouse and His Child (1977) by Paul J — 03 Dec 2012
This hidden gem is a great find. It's very dark, intelligently written with acclaimed voice actors. The animation style is beautifully old-fashioned (reminiscent of The Secret of Nimh) and the story is heart-breaking.
It gets surprisingly surreal and quite epic in the end. They sure don't make them like this anymore. In some respects it's as much for adults as it is for kids. It's worth tracking down this haunting little jewel, especially if you enjoy animation that is slightly odd and esoteric.
