This is as much a film about the post war reconstruction of Germany as it is about Football. It tackles the difficult issues of men returning from Soviet Prisons, and the then new division of Germany into east and west.
If anyone was studying this period of history, or wants to understand the embryonic development of post war Germany, then this is the film. It also is a rather good story about a remarkable football team and the recovery of lost national pride too.
