Review of The Long Day Closes (1992) by Y'ng Y — 21 Aug 2009
Successful recreation of 50s Liverpool, and the professionalism shines through in every aspect of the film. There is nothing really wrong with the film, except I couldn't feel for it, and it is the sort of autobiographical film which one should be able to feel for in order for it to be totally successful.
It's a problem with my subjective viewing experience of a rather faultless film which fails to connect on that deep level where a similar film like Tarkovsky's Mirror does...
