Review of The Last Lions (2011) by Barry L — 23 Feb 2011
The directors of this film have gone to great pains to claim they do not "anthropomorphize" the lions. Of course not, because lions are consistently commenting on philosophical questions like the nature of despair, motherhood and the relative fear of other lions and guns.
The directors also claim they did not cause any harm to any animals. Well, there are only 20,000 wild lions left and they film 2 cubs being killed by other animals under circumstances where they could have intervened but did not.
They have indicated in interviews that they made a decision not to intervene unless it was "humans" who were going to kill a lion. Perhaps they have never heard of sins of omission.
