Review of The Last House in the Woods (2006) by Vincent B — 26 Jan 2010
Aurora and her "sensitive" boyfriend Rino (he wants her to draw crayola pictures while they hump) encounter a trio of lunkhead rapists while on a country drive.
Rino gets pummelled, but moments before Aurora is gang-raped (sans the crayons) the couple are "rescued" by a mysterious middle-aged couple who take the pair back to their isolated abode.
This would-be safe-haven becomes a gore-soaked nightmare complete with chainsaw dismemberments, cannibal kids, drooling retards, exploding facial boils, disembowelments and more.
Now, this ain't high art folks. The acting is bad, the dialogue cheesy (made even more so if one chooses to view it with the English dubbing), the visual aesthetic is pure porn-grade and the story is of the "done-to-death" variety.
These faults , together with it's gore-for-broke gore and goofiness make for a deliriously enjoyable throwback to the glroy days of splat-happy spaghetti slashers.
